      Bedford County Public Schools are closed for students on Monday, February 5, 2024, so the National D-Day Memorial is hosting one-day mini-camps for third, fourth, and fifth graders on that day! Students will learn about World War II and D-Day through activities, games, and lessons. Participants should bring lunch. A morning snack will be provided. Event may be canceled in the event of inclement weather, if minimum registration not met, or if February 5 is used as BCPS make-up day. In event of cancelation, fees will be refunded.

The National D-Day Memorial has embarked on a new initiative to install a Medal of Honor Garden, paying tribute to the four Medal of Honor recipients from D-Day.  Join us as we dedicate the Medal of Honor Garden and honor 1st Lt. Jimmie W. Monteith Jr., a son of Virginia and member of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets. Killed in action on June 6, 1944, Monteith's heroism was so apparent that both General Dwight D. The 2024 season runs Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 18, 2024 to Labor Day, Monday, September 3, 2024. The Memorial is open daily, 10AM-5PM.
